The Legacy of Ned and Brenda Corridan

A Journey Home to St. Patrick’s

As shared with us by Mandy Corridan

Ned Corridan was born in the Irish countryside of County Kerry in 1932. From the family farm nestled in Southern Ireland, he set out for the UK in 1950, where he met and married Brenda just two years later.

Their life together was one of movement and mission. In 1969, they immigrated to South Africa, joining the parish of St. John the Apostle. Ned’s devotion to the faith was tireless; he ran Bible studies, led Saturday Catechism classes for children, and served as a Minister of the Eucharist.

“Ned and Brenda joined St. Patrick’s Parish almost as soon as they stepped off the plane in 1997. Within a short while, Ned was once again immersed in ministry, bringing comfort to the sick and dying through hospital and home visits.”

Ned remained an active pillar of our parish until only a few months before his passing in 2013. Brenda’s own devotion never wavered; she attended Mass faithfully until she could no longer travel. Even in her final year, she found joy in the Sunday hymns and Gospel readings streamed to her care home.

Brenda passed away quietly and peacefully on April 2, 2026. Their story is a beautiful testament to a century-long tradition of faith that knows no borders, and we are honored that their journey led them to our doors.

“May they both rest in peace and reap the just rewards of the good Christian life that they led on this earth.”
